Croatia’s new Labour Act: what changes for you?

The draft is in public consultation until 2 December 2026. It is not law yet, and none of this applies right now.

Where the law is now

  1. Public consultation, until 2 December 2026
  2. Government: The ministry publishes a report on the consultation comments (expected on 2 January 2027), and the Government adopts the bill and sends it to Parliament.
  3. Parliament: MPs debate the bill and vote on it. While the debate is on, the text can still change.
  4. Published in the Official Gazette (Narodne novine)
  5. In force on the eighth day after publication

It is not yet known when the law will come into force. We update this page at every stage.

Have a comment on the draft? You can leave one on e-Savjetovanja, the government’s consultation portal (in Croatian), until 2 December 2026.

The draft also changes the rules on work through digital platforms and the protection of workers on military service and in civil protection. This page doesn’t cover those.
